Help : Percentages
You can't simply add yesterday's month percentage (as shown in the leader tables) to today's day percentage and expect to get today's month percentage. They don't work like that.

Eg. On 1 June I am worth G100. On 25 June I am worth G150. For the month I am then +50%. If I am worth G200 on 26 June, today's day percentage is (200-150)/150*100 = 33.33% yet my month's percentage is (200-100)/100*100) = 100%. 50% plus 33.33% does not equal 100%.

Sometimes players look at their portfolio's percentage gain for the day and then at the percentage gains of their stocks and think there's something wrong. You can't simply take the average percentages of the stocks and expect that to be similar to the percentage gain of your portfolio. It depends how much cash you've got and the more you've got invested in a stock, the more influence it will have over your portfolio's percentage.

If you want to check the computer, sit down with a calculator and use the percentages to work out how much your stocks were worth the day before, then calculate your portfolio's percentage change. This won't work if you've made trades that day, won a sweepstake or played with wagers. Basically, trust the computer - it can work out the maths a lot quicker than you can and has more information about your portfolio than you do. Help Index
