im guessing you meant to put you dont think it should be banned judging by your later comments. I think it should, its a totally pointless and inhumane way of killing a defenseless animal.

it would be easy enough to employ rangers or something to keep the fox population at bay, it's the pointless chasing and torturing of them is what i dont like about it

i can see your point but how come the debate has started about it now, y not 100 years ago. im not a true hunting supporter and i dont know y they do it but for alot of people it is just the trill of chasing the fox that they like

heli - attitudes have changed a hell of a lot in the past 100 years, as have the reasons for fox hunting. Im sure 100 years ago, agriculture and farming were much more important areas of trading, whereas now its all in the commercial sector, the need to kill foxes 100 years ago was a lot stronger than it is today, especially as technology has improved and farms arent exactly as they were 100 years ago.

personnly i think it should be allowed as foxes are a huge problem 4 farmers . Also most farmers only posess a shotgun which if you no how it works would put a few pellets in the fox andn then leave it to bleed to death

so allowing a fox to be chased for hours at a time and then savaged by a huge pack of dogs is more humane? Debatable!

Im sure a calculated cull properly researched, although obviously not adantageous to the fox, would be a much better way of restricting the fox population, and would be much more humane. Cant the hunters just go to a football game instead?

Frankly, I think there are a zillion more important issues facing society, and it really frustrates me that there's such a fuss made over something which I think is quite unimportant.

If animal rights protesters were as focussed on what I see as more "worthy" causes, such as the reduction of poverty, hunger, disease, human rights abuses, bigotry, energy inefficiency etc, then the world would be a better place. THEN they could start worrying about our animal friends.

The Government is doing a bad enough job as it is without being distracted by fox hunting. Furthermore, the ban in Scotland is proving unworkable - it will be just the same in the rest of the UK.

I agree with Mark, although it isnt that nice there are more important things to worry about.
If they were to ban it what would be next too, Shooting ? Fishing ? They all fall into the same catorgory really

im not saying i dont think there are more important issues, im just answering the question posted. I dont know about you russ, but i cant remember the last time a fish was caught and given to a pack of hounds to rip to shreds? Shooting? Fair enough the animal dies, but its not quite as savage.

It should be banned, if not then the animal rights activists should get on their bikes, round up a load of foxes and hunt down the snobby blood-lusters.

I don't like to watch of a fox being hunted and ripped to shreds so it should be banned - but I enjoy fishing!
I don't like to watch people being beaten up on a Saturday night on Southsea seafront - but I enjoy boxing?

Seems I enjoy some blood sports but not others. How many of you are in the same boat?

you're all missing the point. foxes enjoy it! they love the thrill of the chase, the buzz of high risk hide and seek, it gives them somthing to live for. I say keep fox hunting as we must at the very least uphold foxes civil liberties and must not give into selfish animal rights protesters who want to spoil the enjoyment of the animals they claim to be campaigning for.

keep the fox's fun!!

Foxes are dogs, killing a dog is illegal so killing a fox should be ilegal as well. Therefor all toffs that take part should be locked up.

The perfect solution is that we ban fox hunting (and hunting with dogs generally) but so the country folk have some thing to do and jobs wont be be lost we let peadaphiles drug dealers pimps, rapists have a ten minute head start, and then let the dogs loose.

Seriously I mean it.

Less ppl in prison, streets safe, and nobody but a bluddy do gooder such as a left wing socail worker would argue my point.

To say you shouldn't do something because there are more important things to sort out is ridiculous. Maybe at work I shouldnt see the children who are only a little bit ill with chest infections but I should change specality and take up cardiac surgery instead.

Foxes clearly dont like being hunted and there are other more humane ways of keeping their numbers down without charging around on horses with a lot of hungry dogs.
